Eat local, organic and seasonal - in the rhythm of nature! 🌍🥦🍎
Eating local and seasonal fruit and vegetables is good not only for the environment, but also for your own health. If we follow a macrobiotic approach, it is particularly important to be in tune with nature, as the changing seasons and the foods grown in a particular climate help to maintain an internal balance. This can be further enhanced by choosing organic produce.
Why choose local, seasonal and organic food?
1️⃣ Free from harmful chemicals:
Organic farming uses no synthetic pesticides, fertilisers or GMOs, so your food will be cleaner and healthier. Avoiding chemicals not only protects your body, but also the soil, water and local ecosystem.
2️⃣ More nutrient-rich:
Organic crops are often higher in nutrients because they are grown with a strong emphasis on soil health and fertility.
3️⃣ Protecting our land:
Organic farming uses more sustainable methods, reduces soil erosion, preserves biodiversity and has a smaller ecological footprint.
From a macrobiotic perspective:
Eating organic products helps avoid the negative energetic effects of chemicals and artificial substances. The energy of local, seasonal, organic foods is pure and natural, supporting the body's inner harmony. Here are two examples:
🌿organic root vegetables (carrots, iceberg sprouts) grown in winter strengthen and warm the body as good YANG energy, while organic berries and juicy vegetables in summer provide lightness and vitality, freshness, good YIN energy
🌿if you don't live in the tropics, you don't want to eat coconut/pineapple/avocado...the tropics are warm, extremely cooling and hydrating, which you don't need, especially in winter.
How do you make a move?
🎯 Buy from market, organic farmers! Look for certified organic products that are guaranteed chemical-free.
🎯 Plan consciously according to the season! Incorporate fresh fruit and vegetables into your diet.
🎯 Support sustainability! By choosing organic food you can help protect the soil and our environment.
By making informed choices, you are not only protecting your own health, but also contributing to a more liveable, sustainable future. Eat cleanly, naturally, in harmony with the earth and yourself. 🌱
